Artist's Comments

This is a preliminary drawing I'm working on. The character is a hero figure. I haven't created a name or anything, it's basically just a practice sketch. The staff was originally going to be a spear, but it turned into a mage's staff in the end. Oh well. It was made using F, B, and HB Pencils. I hope you guys like it. See Miniga, I can draw! And the scariest thing is, the last time I drew a picture was in September. Can you believe that! -Heh Heh- And this one looks better than the last one. I guess I'm getting better at drawing via osmosis. What do you think Miniga?

I'm pretty impressed. you've got proportions down and a good start on your hero.

False hopes are only false, if you haven't taken a second to measure a task, if you have, and you can still have faith in yourself to do a good job, then there's no reason you shouldn't be confident

Thanks. I'm glad you like it. And I'm still working on this, especially in the area of pants and shirt where they meet. But thank you for the compliment, I'm glad I'm doing better. ^^'

You're welcome. Getting things to gel proportionally and lineart wise is half the battle, so if you finish it to your satisfaction, then for the time being you have won your war on drawing.

Thanks again, so where did you learn about drawing anyhow? (<=Overt Curiosity, conjoined with a bad case of congenital conversation mania...i.e. I like to have conversations and I'm very curious. ^^')

(Isn't it fun to use college level words. ^_^ And people wonder why students in high school use to look at me and have their heads go...wha? Can you please repeat that in English. Thank You.)
:icondaiichi:
well, I actually had to take a course in drawing at my first college, and I'll say that I learned a good bit, but in terms of being able to replicate what I've learned, not so good. I still have problems just handling linear perspective, and I always seemed to do best with one of those cool pens that has like the ability to actually press lightly so you can get shading diffs. Plus I seemed to excel with wooded subjects.

I never realized you were a year older than me. So what is your major in college? Mine is Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. (<= Working to get into MIT.) and I know what you mean. I need to take some art classes. I'm hoping for Ceramics and Drawing/painting.

He is a mage, yes. What that encompasses is incomplete at the moment. But yes, this academy student does have enough power to do some serious damage. -heh heh-

PS. You didn't mention whether or not you liked the picture, and whether or not I'm improving as an artist. -sob-
:icondaiichi:
Wow, MIT? I passed by there when I visited boston once..That's a heck of a school. If you can make it I will bow before you and your studying greatness. I personally think you can do it too, so do your best! My major is Secondary Education: French with a Certification in Teaching.
